Burnley FC Terminates Shirt Sponsor Agreement Amid Controversy
Burnley Football Club has confirmed it has terminated its agreement with its front-of-shirt sponsor Finotive on the eve of the 2026/27 Championship season. The club announced at the start of July that Finotive, a Cypriot-registered organisation, would adorn the club's new shirts for the upcoming campaign, as well as all training wear.
The company describes itself as a "global trading ecosystem" and has been featured heavily on the club's branding this summer. However, the agreement is no more, with the club confirming Vertu Motors, who already served as a club partner, will step in to become the club's sponsor for this season.
"We have acted decisively to protect the club's interests, and those of our supporters, while ensuring preparations for the new season continue uninterrupted, both on and off the pitch," the club said in a statement.

Why it Matters for Burnley
The termination of the agreement with Finotive comes as a surprise to many, with the company's branding featuring heavily on the club's social media channels. The change in sponsor will likely have a significant impact on the club's branding and marketing efforts for the upcoming season.
The club has confirmed that supporters who have already purchased a replica shirt now have three options following the change. They can either claim a full refund, exchange their shirt for a replacement featuring Vertu branding, or have Vertu branding applied to their existing shirt free of charge. As a result of the change, replica kits will not be available online or in the Clarets Store until further notice.
The club has also confirmed that further information relating to existing replica shirts and the resulting supporter arrangements will be communicated through their official channels imminently.
